Sifuna Finally Clears The Air On Possibility Of LINDA MWANANCHI Joining Gachagua's Team

According to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, the Linda Mwananchi movement, a section of the opposition, would formally join the United Opposition team, led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, in the run-up to the general elections in 2027.

In an interview with a local television station on Monday, Sifuna clarified that the movement, which comprises Babu Owino, James Orengo, and other Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members, had originally objected to the choice made by certain party members to support President William Ruto for a second term.

Sifuna claims that the coalition wants to unite the opposition and present a significant threat to the current administration.

The team will need to win by more than five million votes to win the president in 2027, he said, underscoring the movement's objective of winning a landslide victory rather than merely running in the election.

According to the Linda Mwananchi movement, a unified opposition may actually effect change for Kenyans.

Building a wide coalition capable of overthrowing the existing government and providing an alternative leadership that pays attention to the people is our clear objective, Sifuna stated.

In order to increase their prospects of defeating the incumbent party, opposition leaders are increasingly coordinating their efforts, according to political analysts, and this action represents a growing trend of realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

The upcoming months will be crucial for many voters in determining if these partnerships can result in real electoral gains. As the 2027 elections get near, the statement also coincides with escalating discussions inside ODM on the party's strategic direction.
