NEWS IN: Demos Rocks Busy Nairobi Highway as Angry Residents Clash With Police, Reason Revealed

Angry residents of Nanyuki caused chaos on the busy Nanyuki–Nairobi highway after staging a protest over the mysterious death of Shantel Waruguru.

The demonstrators, carrying the body of the young woman, blocked the road at Giagatika, disrupting traffic and prompting a heavy police response. Officers reportedly lobbed teargas to disperse the crowd, which had become increasingly agitated.

Shantel’s body was tragically discovered in a pit latrine at her home, sparking outrage and grief among the local community.

Residents accused authorities of inaction and demanded urgent investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The protest, which began peacefully, escalated as the procession moved toward the Kiamachibi area, where police intercepted the march to restore order.

Eyewitnesses said the demonstrators were determined to carry Shantel’s body in a public display of anger and mourning, intending to draw attention to what they described as negligence in handling cases of suspicious deaths.

Local leaders called for calm and urged authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.
