"Mbona Mnashikana Mkono"? Kenya Controversial Comedian Confronts Two Men Holding Hands in Nairobi CBD, VIDEO Spark Outrage

A brief street encounter in Nairobi’s Central Business District has turned into a full-blown online talking point after a video showed popular streamer Vindee confronting two men he found holding hands in public.

The clip, filmed in the middle of a busy afternoon, captures Vindee recognisable in his trademark red suit walking up to the pair and bluntly asking why “wanaume wawili” were holding hands in town.

What might have passed unnoticed in the daily rush of the CBD instead escalated into a heated exchange.

One of the men immediately pushed back, clearly irritated by the unsolicited question. Voices were raised, curious onlookers slowed down, and several phones were lifted to record the moment, turning a personal interaction into instant content.

Vindee defended himself by saying he was simply asking a question about behaviour he found unusual in a public space.

The two men, however, made it clear they felt he had crossed a line, arguing that their actions were private and not open to interrogation by a stranger.

The disagreement played out against a familiar backdrop in Kenya, where same-sex affection whether romantic or platonic often attracts attention and controversy due to prevailing cultural and legal attitudes.

After being shared on X by user @kilundeezy, the video quickly spread, drawing thousands of views and sharply divided opinions. Some users praised Vindee for being “bold” and confronting what they consider taboo.

Others accused him of provoking strangers for clicks, calling the encounter unnecessary and intrusive. Several commenters also pointed out that male friends holding hands is not unheard of in many Kenyan communities.

Vindee is no stranger to controversy. His street-based content, which includes confrontational questions and risky pranks, has previously landed him in trouble with security guards and drawn criticism from the public. He has often argued that he is treated more harshly than other content creators.

This incident adds another chapter to ongoing conversations about public conduct, the limits of content creation, and how much space personal freedom is afforded in Kenya’s rapidly digitised street culture.

Whether seen as boundary-pushing or plain provocation, the clip is a reminder of how quickly everyday moments can explode once a camera is involved.
