Police in Busia County are holding a man who confessed to killing his 25‑year‑old wife, Metrine Wandera, at their matrimonial home in Bungoma.
The suspect walked into Busia police station, over 100 kilometers from the crime scene, and admitted to the murder.
According to police reports, the man claimed he attacked his wife after allegedly finding her involved in a love affair with another man on their matrimonial bed.
In a fit of anger, he reportedly attacked and bludgeoned her, leaving her with fatal injuries. He fled the scene, fearing retaliation from neighbors who might have turned violent against him.
After surrendering, the suspect was detained in Busia for questioning and later transferred to Bungoma, where he is expected to face charges in court.
Meanwhile, the deceased's body was taken to a mortuary as detectives continued gathering evidence and recording statements from family members and neighbours.
Cases of violence linked to love triangles and marital disagreements have been reported across the country, often ending in murder or suicide. Police and community leaders continue to urge couples to seek peaceful solutions to conflicts rather than resorting to violence.
