Recent events in Mukono District have raised concern about safety at night for families. A university administrator died after reaching home and going to bed late night.
Police say the incident occurred in Gwafu village within Goma Division on Tuesday night. Family members had secured the house before resting for the night calmly inside.
Investigators believe an intruder entered quietly and hid inside the residence during darkness hours. The attacker waited until the household was asleep before moving from a corner.
During the night the suspect strangled the university dean of students inside her room. Officers reported no clear signs of forced entry at the scene later on.
After the killing the intruder removed the victim clothing and left wearing her dress. This action surprised neighbours and police handling the case during early review stage.
Kampala Metropolitan Police officers arrived and began collecting evidence from the home that night. They interviewed relatives and nearby residents to rebuild the timeline of events that followed.
The victim was a mother of two boys aged thirteen and nine years old. Uganda Christian University announced her death and urged support for her children from staff.
Earlier that day she had spoken at a community worship meeting in Nkoyoyo Hall. In a video she shared lessons on building healthy relationships with students for life.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said detectives are following several leads in silence. No arrests or motive have been announced as inquiries continue across the district today.
