Gladys Wanga Speaks Out in Evening Message to Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Supporters

Gladys Wanga, the ODM national chairperson and Homa Bay governor, issued a clear statement addressing the status of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna within the Orange Democratic Movement. In remarks shared via media outlets including Daily Nation, she confirmed that Sifuna continues to hold membership in the party.

However, Wanga emphasized that the party has revoked his authority to represent or speak on behalf of ODM. This decision stems from actions taken by party organs following internal disagreements.

She referenced an incident in March 2025, when Sifuna presented the party's 10-point agenda at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre during coalition discussions.

Shortly afterward, he appeared on national television and declared that President William Ruto would serve only one term.

According to Wanga, such statements conflicted with the party's position and undermined collective decisions.

The withdrawal of his speaking mandate reflects efforts to maintain discipline and unified messaging amid ongoing political alignments, including cooperation with the government.

This development occurs against the backdrop of broader tensions within ODM, including disputes over leadership roles and the implementation of the 10-point agenda outlined in prior agreements.

Sifuna's removal from the secretary-general position earlier in February 2026 has been contested, with legal processes at the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal pausing certain changes pending final resolution.

Wanga's message appears aimed at clarifying the party's stance to supporters, including those associated with initiatives like Linda Mwananchi, which Sifuna has been linked to in grassroots mobilization.

By distinguishing between membership and official representation, she seeks to reinforce internal cohesion while addressing public confusion over recent events.

The statement underscores ODM's commitment to its structures and processes as the party navigates complex alliances and prepares for future political engagements.
