Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a TikToker accused of posting a video in which he made threatening remarks directed at senior officers over the alleged Kware killings.
The suspect, identified as Peter Maingi Kimani, also known online as Menelik Kimani, was taken into custody by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters following investigations into a viral video that circulated widely on social media.
According to investigators, Kimani recorded and shared a TikTok video in which he accused the DCI boss of being involved in the alleged killings in Kware.
The claims relate to incidents that sparked public anger during last year’s Gen Z protests against the Finance Bill.
During those demonstrations, several young people lost their lives, and some bodies were later reportedly discovered in the Kware area, leading to widespread outrage and calls for accountability.
In the now-deleted video, Kimani allegedly used strong language while addressing senior police officers.
He accused them of using excessive force during the protests and claimed that they were responsible for the deaths of young demonstrators whose bodies were allegedly dumped in Kware.
Investigators say the suspect went further and issued what they described as threatening statements directed at top officers.
Authorities state that in the video, Kimani openly challenged the DCI leadership and even shared his location, daring officers to arrest him.
He reportedly told his followers that he was not afraid and urged those tagging the DCI in his video to continue doing so.
Following the circulation of the clip, detectives launched a manhunt to trace the suspect. Through digital tracking and intelligence gathering, officers were able to establish his whereabouts.
He was eventually arrested in Gatundu Sub-County, specifically in the Gachage area, during an operation carried out by DCI officers.
Police sources say Kimani is currently in custody and is being processed as investigations continue. He is expected to be charged in court once detectives complete their inquiries.
Authorities have warned members of the public against using social media platforms to issue threats or spread unverified allegations, stating that such actions could lead to legal consequences.
