Details Of the Newly Registered Political Party Linked to Edwin Sifuna Emerges

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has officially removed Edwin Sifuna from his position as the party’s secretary general, following a National Executive Committee meeting held in Mombasa.

The announcement made on Tuesday instantly brought attention to Sifuna’s political prospects.

Soon after, rumors began to circulate regarding his possible connection to the People's Renaissance Movement (PM), a newly registered political party thought to be linked to the Nairobi senator.

PM attracted notice earlier this month when Sifuna participated in an interview with Yvonne Okwara on Citizen TV, during which he stated that he had no ties to the party.

The People’s Renaissance Movement obtained its provisional registration certificate from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) on January 15 and is currently led by interim officials who are navigating the legal and administrative processes required for establishing a functional political party.

Its logo showcases a hummingbird in flight within a circular design, featuring red, blue, and white colors.

Recently, Sifuna has been spotted wearing shades of blue that closely resemble PM’s branding, including a dark blue t-shirt at the Linda Wananchi rally in Busia, which stirred further speculation.

The party's slogan, "the change we need," highlights a commitment to governance that is transparent, accountable, and equitable, with the goal of creating a system that benefits all citizens rather than just a privileged few.

As political analysts closely monitor the situation, the upcoming weeks are likely to provide insights into Sifuna’s future actions, including whether he will take on a more significant role in PM or explore other political paths following his departure from ODM.
