During his today morning appearance on Citizen TV’s Daybreak, Aukot has dropped a massive bombshell regarding the failed impeachment of Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo.
The city lawyer has publicly alleged that a cold, hard cash played a bigger role in the verdict than the evidence presented in the Senate during the impeachment.
According to Aukot, the integrity of the Senate was compromised by a coordinated bribery scheme designed to save the Governor.
He has claimed that a staggering majority of Senators specifically pointing toward the ODM camp were pocketing Ksh. 5 million each to ensure a "No" vote.
In a house meant to be the ultimate protector of devolution and accountability, these allegations paint a grim picture of justice being auctioned to the highest bidder.
Aukot suggests that the money wasn't just floating around randomly; he claims to have evidence of UDA-affiliated individuals funneling these funds to their ODM counterparts to secure the Governor's survival.
Amidst this sea of alleged corruption, Aukot has singled out one man for his principles, Migori Senator Eddie Oketch.
The lawyer has claimed that Oketch stood firm as the only legislator who flat-out refused to take the bribe, choosing instead to vote based on the merits of the case.
While Aukot noted that about 17 senators in total were not part of the payout, his praise for Oketch highlights a rare instance of defiance against the party line when money is involved.
If these claims hold water, it suggests that the impeachment process, a critical constitutional tool is being neutralized by financial interests.
It leaves Kenyans wondering if the Senate is a court of conscience or just another marketplace.
