Chaos: MP Snatches Microphone From ODM Governor at Burial, Bodyguard Open Fire as Supporters Fight

A burial ceremony in Oruba, Suna, Migori County turned chaotic when supporters of Governor Ochilo Ayako and Suna West Member of Parliament Peter Masara clashed.

Witnesses reported that the confrontation began when MP Masara forcefully took a microphone from Governor Ayako while he was addressing mourners.

This act angered Ayako’s supporters, leading to heated exchanges with Masara’s followers. Soon, stones and twigs were hurled between the rival groups, forcing both leaders to seek cover.

Bodyguards attached to the officials responded by firing shots into the air to disperse the crowd. Police officers present at the event joined in restoring order, chasing away the rowdy groups before the burial could proceed.

Several mourners sustained injuries during the chaos, and some vehicles belonging to the governor’s supporters were allegedly damaged.

Governor Ayako later filed a report at Migori police station, claiming his supporters had been assaulted and their property vandalized. MP Masara, however, did not lodge any complaint.

Local police confirmed they were investigating the matter and promised to take action against those responsible.

The incident has raised concerns among residents, with fears that political violence may increase as the region heads closer to election season.

Authorities warned that political temperatures are rising in several parts of the country and urged leaders to promote peace and respect during public events.
