"We are Changing The Law, You Will Be Hanged" Ruto Says On Those Who Will Be Found Selling This

President William Ruto has announced plans to drastically change Kenya’s drug laws, warning that individuals found selling cocaine and heroin could face the death penalty.

He said the government is considering amending the Constitution to allow hanging as punishment, replacing the current KSh1 million fine provided for under existing law.

Ruto said those involved in the sale of hard drugs have destroyed the lives of many children across the country, while their own children do not use the same substances.

He argued that drug trafficking has caused deep social harm and must be confronted with tougher measures.

The President further stated that the proposed changes will also target the wealth of drug dealers. 

He said assets belonging to individuals found guilty of selling cocaine and heroin would be confiscated by the state.

According to Ruto, the planned constitutional changes are meant to send a strong warning to those profiting from the drug trade and to protect young people from addiction and exploitation.
