"Utakufa Bila Warning" David Murathe Read Cryptic Final Message Cyrus Jirongo Sent Him Before Tragic Accident

Nairobi – Former Lugari MP and ex-minister Cyrus Jirongo died in a tragic road accident in Naivasha on December 13, 2025, sending shockwaves across Kenya.

The accident occurred when his vehicle collided with a speeding Climax bus traveling from Nairobi to Busia. The sudden loss of Jirongo prompted calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

During a memorial service held at CITAM Valley Road on December 27, former Jubilee vice chairperson David Murathe recalled his last conversation with Jirongo, just a day before the fatal accident.

Murathe described the interaction as lighthearted, involving holiday greetings exchanged via one of Jirongo’s fake Facebook accounts.

“I had spoken to Jirongo before that Saturday. He sent me a message saying, ‘If you received the corona vaccine and you neither drink alcohol nor smoke, you would die suddenly without any warning.’ I replied, and he laughed, saying ‘hahaha.’ Then I wished him happy holidays, and he said, ‘same to you, my brother.’ That was just a day before the accident,” Murathe recounted.

Reflecting on Jirongo’s passing, Murathe described him as a visionary political strategist whose contributions to Kenya’s political landscape were often misunderstood.

He credited Jirongo with playing a key role in shaping the country’s leadership succession, noting that his persistent pressure on former President Daniel arap Moi paved the way for Uhuru Kenyatta to become Kenya’s fourth president.

Murathe also highlighted Jirongo’s broader ambitions beyond politics, noting his efforts to pursue mega development projects in Uganda and Libya.

According to him, Jirongo was constantly seeking ways to turn ideas into tangible results and had a global outlook that set him apart from many of his peers.

Addressing concerns about Jirongo’s personal safety, PLP leader Martha Karua revealed that the former MP had expressed worries about his security before his death.

She said that they had been cooperating on certain initiatives ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Karua emphasized that Jirongo was mindful of potential risks and took steps to safeguard himself while continuing his political work.

Jirongo’s sudden death has left many leaders and Kenyans reflecting on his influence and the legacy he leaves behind.

Murathe described him as a “hero” whose life, although cut short, had a lasting impact on Kenya’s politics.

He added that death can come in many forms, including accidents, old age, or sickness, and that Jirongo’s passing, though tragic, was part of God’s timing.

The memorial service was attended by several prominent politicians and dignitaries, who paid tribute to Jirongo’s political career and personal qualities.

Many highlighted his strategic thinking, ambition, and dedication to public service.
