Senator Boni Khalwale Writes To IG Kanja Seeking Inquiry Into Cyrus Jirongo’s Death

Senator Boni Khalwale on Tuesday, December 30, used the solemn gathering at Lumakanda Village to call for an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the death of former Cabinet Minister and Lugari MP, the late Cyrus Jirongo.

Speaking during the requiem mass and farewell ceremony, the Kakamega Senator said lingering questions surrounding Jirongo’s passing must be addressed openly and conclusively.

He stressed that the family, friends, and the nation deserve clarity on the circumstances that led to the death of the veteran politician.

Khalwale revealed that he has formally written to the Inspector-General of Police, requesting a prompt and thorough inquiry.

He said the request was made in good faith and in the interest of justice, accountability, and transparency.

According to the senator, Jirongo was not only a family friend but also a national figure whose influence spanned politics, business, and community leadership.

He argued that such a profile demands a serious and professional handling of investigations surrounding his death.

The requiem mass drew leaders from across the political divide, religious leaders, family members, and residents of Lugari, all united in grief.

Emotions ran high as speakers paid tribute to Jirongo’s legacy, describing him as bold, charismatic, and deeply committed to public service.

Khalwale urged authorities to treat the matter with sensitivity while ensuring that due process is followed.

He cautioned against speculation, saying only a credible investigation would provide closure to the family and calm public concern.

As the burial preparations continue, call for answers has added a new dimension to the mourning period.

Many attendees echoed the senator’s sentiments, expressing hope that the truth will emerge.
