Kaluma made the remarks in a post shared on X on Sunday, December 28, 2025, as early political alignments and debates around the next election cycle continue to take shape.
According to the legislator, ODM is prepared to rally behind President Ruto, despite the party traditionally positioning itself in opposition.
Kaluma went on to challenge rival political camps to move beyond slogans and criticism, urging them to present clear development plans and proven leadership records ahead of the polls.
“Let them pick their candidate early and meet us at the ballot. The candidate should come with a development record, a clear plan, and a serious agenda for moving Kenya forward, not empty political rhetoric,” he added.
His remarks come amid growing speculation over potential alliances and coalitions as parties begin to position themselves for the 2027 contest.
Kaluma has in recent days openly advocated for formal engagement between ODM and President Ruto ahead of the elections. He said the party should initiate talks with the Head of State to explore a pre-election coalition.
In an earlier statement shared on Friday, December 26, 2025, the MP said ODM was ready to open negotiations, framing the move as a strategic decision for the party’s future.
“The ODM party is set to formally engage President William Ruto for a pre-election coalition ahead of 2027,” Kaluma said.
However, his comments also carried a warning to members opposed to the idea, with the MP suggesting that dissenters should reconsider their position within the party.
“Let the traitors within exit now,” he added.
Kaluma’s remarks are likely to spark debate within ODM, which has historically fielded its own presidential candidates and maintained a strong opposition identity.
The comments also come at a time when Kenya’s political landscape remains fluid, with leaders across the divide weighing coalition options and long-term strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.
While ODM has not issued an official position on Kaluma’s claims, his statements have added momentum to ongoing discussions about possible realignments and cooperation between the ruling administration and opposition figures.
