Bobi Wine's Offer to UG Police After Museveni Allegedly Said he Doesn't Care if They Live in Grass Houses

Uganda's opposition leader, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, has lashed out at President Yoweri Museveni for admitting on live TV that he doesn't care about the wellbeing of the police.

This is after Museveni stated that he doesn't care whether police officers live in grass houses, as long as he provides them with guns to continue doing their work.

Bobi Wine has termed this proof of the disdain Museveni has for the uniformed forces, wondering why they are still allowing themselves to be used to harass him.

He has asked them to stop being sent to fight him and stop his campaigns, and instead support him in his bid to become president, after which he will put in place policies that will better their lives.

Addressing officers sent to stop his convoy's entry into Bukedea District, he also asked them to uphold the law they promise to protect while passing out and stop being used to break it.

“I want you to know that there is a plan for you as well. Every institution has been captured, the military and the police. We want to liberate the police so that you can live in dignity. We are not at war," he is quoted by the People Daily.

He asked the police to join hands with him in giving them the dignity they need, branding Museveni the country's main enemy and the barrier between Ugandans and better lives.

Wine also promised the police better pay if he wins on January 15.

“You saw Museveni on TV saying he does not care about your conditions—that even if you live in grass-thatched houses, as long as he buys guns."

"Museveni is the enemy of Uganda because he doesn’t love or care about you. You are young people and deserve better pay and dignity."
