Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has delivered one of his strongest political messages yet to Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, signalling a tough and highly competitive race ahead of the 2027 General Election.
His remarks came during a meeting with residents in Malava, where he warned the governor against what he called disrespectful and provocative politics.
Mudavadi said Kenya Kwanza leaders were very active in the political field and fully prepared to counter Natembeya’s growing influence in the region.
He dismissed claims that senior government officials were avoiding political debates, saying they were focused but ready to respond whenever necessary.
According to Mudavadi, the coalition is preparing a powerful candidate who will directly challenge Natembeya in the next election. He said the governor should not assume he will easily win a second term.
Mudavadi told the crowd that anyone who thinks Kenya Kwanza leaders are silent or weak is making a mistake. He insisted that politics requires strategy, patience, and strength, which he said Kenya Kwanza still has.
He said in Kiswahili that a strong candidate would be presented in Trans Nzoia who would “show Natembeya the door and send him home.” His message was clear: the ruling coalition will not let the governor dominate the political space without a fight.
Mudavadi also cautioned Natembeya to avoid attacking national government officials. He used a popular saying: “If you live in a house made of glass, do not throw stones.” This was a warning that the governor’s political actions could easily backfire.
According to Mudavadi, Natembeya is showing early signs of political pride despite being in his first term. He said the governor has started behaving as if he has already reached the highest level of political fame.
He questioned why the governor was moving around the country giving strong political statements instead of focusing on service delivery at home. Mudavadi warned that politics can change quickly and urged Natembeya to be more careful with his words and actions.
He added that politics in Trans Nzoia will not be easy for the governor. Mudavadi told residents that Natembeya might soon find himself struggling if Kenya Kwanza brings forward a well-prepared and respected candidate.
The tension between the two leaders has been rising sharply in recent months. Natembeya has been very vocal on issues affecting Western Kenya and has openly criticised some national government decisions. His bold style has made him a key figure in opposition politics in the region.
However, his statements have angered Kenya Kwanza leaders, who now see him as a big threat ahead of the next election cycle. Mudavadi’s latest remarks show that the ruling side is ready to push back strongly.
The rivalry has become even more intense because of the Malava Constituency by-election scheduled for November 27, 2025. Both sides have fielded candidates and have spent days campaigning in the area. Each camp wants to prove its strength before the 2027 race begins.
For Kenya Kwanza, the by-election is a chance to show that the region still supports the ruling coalition. For Natembeya, it is an opportunity to demonstrate that he has strong grassroots support beyond Trans Nzoia.
Mudavadi concluded his message with a firm warning: “We are ready, and we are coming for you.” His words underline the determination of Kenya Kwanza to fight for every political seat in the region.
