A photo has surfaced online showing a parent accused of assaulting a deputy principal after his son was sent home from school.
The incident, which has caused tension in Nkubu town, has drawn mixed reactions from members of the public.
According to reports, the parent is said to be working in the office of a senior county official in Meru.
Sources claim he became angry after learning that his son, a Form Four student at Nkubu High School, had been suspended for allegedly breaking school rules.
The incident reportedly began when the school administration suspended the student in line with its disciplinary guidelines.
The school is said to have made efforts to inform the parent about the suspension and asked him to pick up his son.
However, instead of going home after being sent away, the student is said to have gone to stay at a relative’s house. It is alleged that the boy feared facing his father after the suspension.
When the parent later found out that his son had neither returned home nor explained what had happened at school, he reportedly became even more upset.
Witnesses say the parent started looking for the deputy principal, identified as Mr. Newton Gitari.
His search is said to have led him to a popular entertainment spot in Nkubu town, where the deputy principal was spending his evening.
According to those present, the parent confronted the deputy principal at the club.
What began as a heated exchange of words quickly turned physical.
People at the scene say they were shocked as the argument escalated into an alleged assault.
Videos and photos circulating on social media show part of the confrontation, with locals seen watching as the situation unfolded.
