Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku and Mbeere North MP-elect Leo Wamuthende have launched a strong criticism of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying the Mbeere North by-election has revealed his shrinking political influence in the Mt Kenya region.
Speaking on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Embu Level 5 Hospital, the two leaders visited a UDA mobiliser who was injured during the by-election.
During the visit, Ruku said the results of the poll had confirmed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as the rising political leader in the region.
He noted that the voters had sent a clear message by choosing leaders who prioritise development, peace, and unity.
Ruku argued that the election outcome showed that the people of Mt Kenya are no longer interested in divisive politics.
According to him, the by-election had shifted the political balance and demonstrated that the region is embracing a new direction under leaders who focus on service delivery.
He also spoke openly about Gachagua’s involvement in the campaigns.
Ruku claimed that the former Deputy President had tried to influence the election but failed to sway voters.
He urged Gachagua to step back from politics and allow the region to move forward without unnecessary tension.
In a blunt message, Ruku told Gachagua to retire from active politics and concentrate on his personal life.
“Wewe Rigathi Gachagua enda nyumbani kwako. Mkae hapo na Pastor Dorcas.
Mkunywe uji, vijana wako waoe, upate watoto wajukuu, ulee watoto wajukuu, pamoja na kondoo na mbuzi pale Wamunyoro. Uwache kusumbua watu wa hii eneo ya Mlima Kenya,” Ruku said.
