Beryl Achieng Odinga, the sister of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of strength and resilience.

Beryl's life was marked by challenges, including a tumultuous marriage to Otieno Ambala, who died of a heart attack in 1985 at Kodiaga Prison in Kisumu. 

Their relationship was marred by controversy, with Raila Odinga revealing in his book, "The Flame of Freedom," that his sister suffered at the hands of an abusive partner. Raila intervened to save his sister, showcasing the strong bond between them.

After escaping her abusive marriage, Beryl rebuilt her life and pursued a successful career. 

She was appointed as the Chairperson of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company in 2020, demonstrating her capabilities and dedication to public service. Beryl's story serves as a testament to her unwavering strength and determination.

Despite her family's prominence, Beryl preferred to keep a low profile, avoiding the public eye and focusing on her personal life. 

Her passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes, with many mourning the loss of a remarkable woman who lived a life of quiet strength and dignity.
