Kabando Reveals The Special Traditional Meaning "Githinji" Holds In Mau Mau Given To Ruto

Kabando wa Kabando is a Kenyan politician and public policy commentator known for his outspoken views on governance, democracy, and social justice.

Outside active politics, Kabando wa Kabando remains a strong voice on political reforms, devolution, and civic education, often sharing his opinions through media interviews and social media platforms.

He has revealed that the nickname “Gìthìnji” given to President Ruto by Gachagua is not appropriate. According to Kabando the name “Gìthìnji” holds a special traditional meaning.

He has reveled that it was historically used to refer to those who slaughtered sacrificial animals during important communal or celebratory ceremonies.

Because of its sacred and cultural significance, using the name casually or as a nickname may be considered disrespectful or misleading. A more suitable replacement would be “Mùragani" meaning a killer .
