Gachagua Told to Forget About Mt Kenya, Informed Who Area Leaders Have Began Moving to

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has advised Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to abandon his quest to become the political kingpin of the Mt Kenya region.

Speaking in Mbeere North, Ruku said the region had already found a unifying figure in Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, whom he described as the natural leader and voice of Mt Kenya ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to Ruku, leaders from across the region have begun rallying behind Kindiki because of his calm style of leadership, humility, and deep understanding of national governance. He praised the Deputy President as a refined and disciplined statesman with the ability to unite people and steer development.

“Professor Kindiki is an accomplished leader — educated, globally respected, and with the right temperament for leadership. He has shown maturity and focus, and that’s why most Mt Kenya leaders are following his guidance,” Ruku said, as reported by The Star.

The Cabinet Secretary’s comments come amid an ongoing debate over who should lead the politically influential Mt Kenya bloc into the next election.

For months, Gachagua has been vocal about his efforts to consolidate political influence in the region, positioning himself as its chief spokesperson.

However, Ruku dismissed Gachagua’s recent remarks that appeared to belittle some Mt Kenya MPs, accusing him of undermining fellow leaders who have dedicated themselves to serving the people.

“It is wrong and unfortunate for a former Deputy President to suggest that other leaders from Mt Kenya are lesser or lack credibility,” he said.

“Those same leaders have stood firm for their communities and delivered tangible results.”
