“Cherargei Must Withdraw His Remarks and Apologize to Kenyans” MP Timothy Kipchumba Says

Marakwet West Member of Parliament Timothy Kipchumba has strongly criticized Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei over his recent comments on the treatment of Kenyans by neighboring countries.

Kipchumba said the senator’s remarks were not only misplaced but also damaging to Kenya’s image and diplomatic relations.

In a firm statement, Kipchumba said that the comments made by Senator Cherargei regarding the alleged abductions and torture of Kenyans by the regimes of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu were deeply disturbing and completely out of order.

“The sentiments by the Nandi Senator, my friend Cherargei, on the recent abductions and subsequent torture of Kenyans by the despotic regimes of Museveni and Suluhu are not only archaic but deeply disturbing and unsettling,” Kipchumba said.

He added that such remarks were reckless and bordered on what he described as a “national embarrassment.”

According to the MP, Kenya’s leaders should promote peace, diplomacy, and respect among East African countries rather than fueling hostility with insensitive comments.

Kipchumba urged Senator Cherargei to show humility and take responsibility for his words by issuing a public apology to Kenyans.

He emphasized that leaders have a duty to protect the country’s reputation and maintain good relations with neighboring nations, not to damage them through careless statements.

“The Nandi Senator has a moral and patriotic obligation to withdraw his sentiments and apologize to Kenyans,” Kipchumba stated.

He went on to remind leaders that Kenya’s standing in the East African region depends on how its officials conduct themselves in public.

Kipchumba said that while leaders are free to express their opinions, they must do so with wisdom, truth, and national interest in mind.
