Caleb Amisi Warns UDA's Wamuthende After Slim Victory in Mbeere North By-Election

Lawmaker Caleb Amisi has raised concerns after the Mbeere North parliamentary by-election, saying the narrow winning margin should not be a source of pride.

His comments came after Leo Wamuthende secured the seat with 15,802 votes, a result that sparked mixed reactions in the political space.

Amisi argued that a win with a margin of about 300 votes is too small for any leader to celebrate.

According to him, such a slim gap shows a divided ground and sends a warning to those who may assume they have firm political control.

He insisted that the outcome should be a wake-up call rather than a moment of triumph.

He went on to caution leaders who rely on government support during campaigns. Amisi reminded them that the 2027 General Election will be different.

He said that by then, there will be no government machinery, state influence, or MPs deployed to boost anyone’s chances.

Each candidate, he warned, will have to face voters on their own strength and reputation.

Amisi further said that the political ground is shifting, adding that it is “heavily #Wantam,” meaning the people’s mood is changing and leaders must pay attention.

He urged politicians not to dismiss the signs or claim they were never warned when the tide turns.

The lawmaker’s remarks reflect growing debates around political loyalty, voter dissatisfaction, and changing dynamics in various constituencies.

Many observers believe the Mbeere North race has shown that voters are becoming more unpredictable and are willing to challenge established political networks.
