Betty Bayo’s Hubby Hiram Gitau Breaks Silence for First Time Since Her Death

Edenville, Nairobi, Kenya — The music community and close friends of gospel artist Betty Bayo gathered at her home in Edenville for a memorial mass that brought together family, friends, and well-wishers to honor her memory.

For the first time since her passing, her husband, Hiram Gitau, also known as Tash, spoke publicly, sharing his grief and offering heartfelt words to those in attendance.

The intimate service was held at Bayo’s home, where Tash welcomed attendees and thanked them for their support.

Seated beside his children, Sky and Danny, Tash addressed the gathering, acknowledging the shock and pain of losing Bayo, who had been a loving mother and devoted partner.

“How are you guys? I am Tash, Bayo's husband. This is home, and you are welcome. I want to thank you for praying for us and being with us. We lived here as a family, and losing her was a shock to all of us,” he said, his voice reflecting both sorrow and resilience.

The service also highlighted the supportive relationship between Tash and Bayo’s former associates, including Pastor Kanyari, who shared a cordial bond with Bayo and the family.

Despite Bayo’s previous romantic history with Kanyari, he respected Tash’s role as her husband and has remained involved in supporting her children.

TikToker Obidan Dela, who has been close to Kanyari’s team, emphasized the importance of public support for both Tash and Pastor Kanyari, noting that both had lost someone dear and were working together behind the scenes for the children’s well-being.

“They are coordinating quietly to ensure the kids are cared for. There is no reason for the public to take sides; we should support both parties,” Dela stated.

Bayo, a beloved gospel musician, passed away while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). Her death shocked her fans, colleagues, and the wider music community.

During the memorial, the children remained close to their father, highlighting the bond and family unit that Bayo had helped nurture during her life.

The memorial also served as an opportunity for the artist’s friends and the community to reflect on her life, career, and contributions to gospel music in Kenya.

Tributes poured in from social media and attendees, remembering Bayo not only for her talent but also for her generosity, kindness, and the love she extended to her family and peers.

Kenyans on social media have hailed Tash as a devoted husband and father, praising his calm and thoughtful demeanor during a moment of profound grief.

Observers noted the contrast between Tash’s composure and the sometimes controversial interactions surrounding Bayo’s past relationships, particularly with Kanyari.

“It’s touching to see a man handling his grief with such dignity, putting the children first and honoring his late wife’s memory,” one social media user commented.

The memorial also drew attention to the importance of family unity and support in times of loss, as well as the challenges public figures face when navigating personal tragedy under public scrutiny.

Betty Bayo leaves behind a legacy not only as a gospel artist but as a mother and role model. Her children, Sky and Danny, along with Tash, remain at the heart of preserving her memory and ensuring her contributions to music and the community are remembered.

“Bayo’s life touched many, and even in death, she continues to inspire those who knew her and her fans across Kenya,” Dela remarked.

The memorial mass concluded with prayers, tributes, and reflections from friends and family, leaving attendees with a sense of closure and the shared responsibility to honor Bayo’s life by supporting her surviving family members.
