Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has joined the growing list of leaders condemning Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga over his alleged remarks on the late Raila Odinga.
Amisi called on Gen Zs in Nyeri County to take a stand and demand accountability from their leaders.
In a statement shared widely on social media, the outspoken legislator urged young people to organize peaceful demonstrations and push for Kahiga’s resignation.
“If there is one last favour the Gen Z from Nyeri can give to this nation, it is to hold a demonstration tomorrow to demand the resignation of Mutahi Kahiga as Governor,” Amisi stated.
He described the governor’s alleged comments as the height of tribalism, warning that such rhetoric could tear the country apart.
“We are tribe-less, and this is the height of tribalism. Let’s fix our nation once and for all,” he added.
Amisi’s remarks come amid mounting outrage following Kahiga’s purported statement claiming Raila Odinga’s death was “an answered prayer for Mt. Kenya.”
The comment has drawn sharp criticism from across the political divide, with many calling it divisive and disrespectful to the late opposition leader.
Several leaders, including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, have already condemned the governor, urging him to apologize and retract his words.
Civil society groups have also weighed in, calling on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to investigate the incident.
The late Raila Odinga’s death in India has united Kenyans in mourning, and many citizens have expressed disappointment that some politicians are using the tragedy to fuel ethnic divisions.
Amisi concluded by urging young Kenyans to rise above politics of hate and be the voice of unity in a country still grieving one of its greatest statesmen.
