Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly told off President William Ruto, asking him to stop trying to convince him to join the government.
Speaking during an opposition rally in Manyatta, Embu County, Kalonzo said he was not interested in any alliance that compromises his principles or the unity of the opposition.
Kalonzo made it clear that he is not like other leaders who easily switch sides for personal gain. He said some people in Ruto’s team think he can be easily influenced, but that will never happen.
“William Ruto should stop bothering me. Every day they think Kalonzo is Gideon Moi — that’s not possible. If he wants to talk to me, let him follow the right process. He can start by speaking to Rigathi Gachagua and Martha Karua,” Kalonzo said, as the crowd cheered.
The Wiper leader emphasized that the Azimio coalition is still united and focused on “liberating the country from poor leadership.”
He accused Ruto’s administration of rewarding friends instead of competent people and warned that such leadership was dangerous for Kenya’s democracy.
“This is not the Kenya we fought for. We can’t allow one man to turn this country into his personal empire. We must stand together and resist peacefully,” Kalonzo added.
Kalonzo called on citizens, especially young people, to register as voters so they can remove leaders who do not serve the public interest.
“When we rise together, no mountain is too high. When we vote wisely, Kenya will rise again,” he said.
Meanwhile, some leaders in Ruto’s camp believe working with Kalonzo could boost development in the Ukambani region.
Vincent Kawaya, the Mwala MP, said collaboration between the government and Wiper could help fast-track stalled projects.
However, Kalonzo insisted that development should not come at the cost of political independence or integrity.
He urged Kenyans to remain united, focused, and ready to vote for change in the upcoming 2027 elections.
