RIP: Beautiful Photos of Kisii Medical Student Who Died Minutes After Giving Birth

Grief and disbelief have filled Kisii County following the sudden death of a young medical student, Perpetua Mokeira, who died just hours after giving birth.

The 21-year-old was described as bright, hard-working, and full of dreams that have now been painfully cut short.

According to her relatives, Mokeira successfully delivered a healthy baby but later developed complications that led to her untimely death.

A close family source revealed that the tragedy struck barely five hours after childbirth, leaving her family and friends devastated.

Her father, overwhelmed with sorrow, said that his daughter had been preparing to graduate soon, only for her journey to end in tragedy.

He painfully remarked that she was to graduate from a medical course that had cost them so much, but now she was graduating to her grave.

He also expressed deep worry about the newborn who still needs care and breastfeeding.

While the exact cause of death remains unclear, experts suggest that deaths occurring within hours after delivery are often caused by excessive bleeding, uterine rupture, or blood clots that block major arteries in the heart.

Mokeira’s sudden passing has also stirred cultural discussions, with some locals linking her death to a Kisii traditional belief known as “Amasangi”, where it is believed a woman can be bewitched through food.

Online, Kenyans have expressed deep sorrow and called for more awareness about maternal health and harmful traditional practices.
