Residents of a quiet neighbourhood in Charlotte, North Carolina, were left in deep shock after discovering that a three-year-old girl had been living alone with her late mother’s body for nearly a week.
The woman, identified as Anbrielle Davis, 32, reportedly died suddenly in her house. Her daughter, too young to understand what had happened, thought her mother was only asleep and continued her daily routine.
According to local authorities, the little girl survived by drinking juice and eating dry cereal she could reach in the kitchen.
She kept herself busy by watching cartoons and even managed to use the bathroom on her own.
Neighbours had not seen Anbrielle for days, which raised concern. When a strange smell started coming from her home, they quickly alerted the police.
Officers who arrived at the scene made a heartbreaking discovery — Anbrielle’s body was already decomposing, while her young daughter sat nearby, unharmed but confused.
