"None Of My Business" Gachagua On The Spot As Video of His Remarks on Raila Days Before His Death Emerges

Just hours after news of Raila Odinga’s death shook the nation, a past interview of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has resurfaced.

In the interview with KTN’s Dennis Aseto, Gachagua had strongly dismissed claims that he and his allies were behind rumours concerning Raila Odinga’s health.

“I am not aware of Raila Odinga’s whereabouts, and I have no intention of finding out,” Gachagua said.

“Whether Raila is in the country or out of the country, it is none of my business. I have no intention of wishing any leader ill health.”

Those words which at the time seemed like routine political remarks have now taken on a haunting new meaning following Raila’s confirmed passing.

The clip, which has gone viral again on YouTube shows Gachagua maintaining that he wished Raila good health and a long life so that “his team can face President Ruto and me politically in the right way.”

“It is my prayer that Raila continues to enjoy good health,” Gachagua had added.

The former DP, who was impeached in 2024, also condemned what he called malicious propaganda and urged Kenyans to shun divisive politics.

Now, as Kenyans mourn the death of a man hailed as a liberation hero and democracy icon, Gachagua’s calm and respectful tone in that interview is being widely shared as his last public remarks about Raila Odinga.
