Mosiria made the sad announcement on Tuesday evening, revealing that the woman, who had been found unconscious along a city street, did not survive despite efforts to save her life.
“It is sad to announce the passing of the lady we rescued from the streets in the CBD, where she had been lying unconscious for two days without anyone helping,” Mosiria said in a post shared on social media.
He explained that after receiving a distress call on October 7, he and his team from the County Emergency Operations Centre responded quickly to rescue the woman.
They rushed her to the hospital for medical attention, where she later regained consciousness.
However, Mosiria revealed that the woman’s condition later worsened and she eventually passed away. He added that her family in the village had taken charge of her care before her death.
“Today, I received a message from a family member confirming that she, unfortunately, passed away while undergoing treatment,” Mosiria stated.
The Nairobi County official expressed deep sadness over the incident, saying it was a painful reminder of how some members of society have lost compassion for those in need.
He criticised passersby who ignored the woman while she lay helpless for two days, saying that small acts of kindness could save lives.
“It was a heartbreaking scene, a reflection of how far we have drifted from our sense of humanity,” Mosiria had said earlier after rescuing her.
“How can someone suffer in public for two days as people walk by without helping? Where did our compassion and love go?”
Many Kenyans have praised Mosiria for his act of kindness and dedication to helping vulnerable people in the city.
Others, however, called for more awareness and action from both government and citizens to support street families and those facing medical emergencies.
The woman’s death has renewed calls for the public to show empathy and to report cases of distress immediately to emergency services rather than ignoring those in need.
