Love Triangle? See What Three Male Neighbours Were Fighting Over Before Two Died in Laikipia

A suspected love triangle has ignited deadly violence in Laikipia County, leaving two men dead and over a dozen homes reduced to ashes in the Matigari area of Laikipia West.

The chaos began after the body of 35-year-old Dancun Lenkirikai was discovered inside his house.

He had suffered multiple deep cuts, and investigators believe the attack stemmed from a bitter dispute involving a woman.

According to police, Lenkirikai had recently clashed with two men over a suspected romantic relationship, with one of the rivals believed to have struck the fatal blow.

The killing triggered immediate retaliation from members of Lenkirikai’s community.

Enraged locals descended on the home of 39-year-old Steven Lokirin, a man linked to the earlier dispute. Lokirin was killed, and his house was set on fire.

The violence quickly spread as several nearby houses were also torched in the reprisal attack.

Livestock were stolen during the chaos, although police have since recovered 44 animals.

In response to the escalating tension, security teams have been deployed to the area to restore calm and protect residents.

Despite this, fear continues to grip locals, many of whom have fled their homes in search of safety.

More than 200 displaced residents have since gathered at Laikipia West Sub-County offices, pleading for government assistance as tensions simmer.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing as they monitor the area to prevent further bloodshed.

The motive, though suspected to be romantic rivalry, is still under review as police urge locals to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement.
