Vihiga County Senator Hon. Godfrey Osotsi today made bold remarks in the presence of President William Samoei Ruto during an event in Vihiga County.
The Senator directly told the Head of State that if he wants to secure re-election in 2027, he must engage and walk with Azimio leader Raila Odinga to gain the support of his vast following across the country.
Osotsi, speaking before thousands of residents who had gathered to welcome the President, stressed that Raila Odinga remains a key figure in Kenyan politics and that ignoring him would be a costly mistake for Ruto’s political future.
He noted that the support base Raila commands cannot be underestimated and any serious presidential bid must factor in his influence.
The Senator further urged the President to work harder in delivering services to Kenyans, warning that unmet promises would fuel discontent and weaken his chances of retaining power.
According to Osotsi, Kenyans are growing impatient and expect tangible results in the face of high cost of living and unemployment.
He also criticized the Social Health Authority (SHA), claiming that the program is not working as intended.
He argued that citizens are struggling to access quality healthcare despite the government’s assurances, and reforms in the sector have not addressed the real challenges facing ordinary Kenyans.
Osotsi’s remarks drew mixed reactions from the crowd, with some cheering in agreement while others remained silent.
His bold statement in front of the President is likely to spark debate within political circles, especially in the Western region where political alignments remain fluid.
The presence of President Ruto in Vihiga was part of his development tour, but Osotsi’s candid advice added a political tone to the event, setting the stage for more discussions on alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.
