A family in Kisii County is mourning after a shocking incident where a man brutally killed his wife after catching her talking to another man on the phone.
The tragic event happened on Thursday night in Nyamache area, leaving residents in deep shock.
According to eyewitnesses, the man returned home unexpectedly and found his wife on the phone. He reportedly listened closely and heard her telling the unknown man on the other end, “I love you too.”
This angered him, and a heated exchange followed between the couple.
Neighbors revealed that the man accused his wife of having a secret affair with her “mpango wa kando.”
The quarrel escalated quickly, and in a fit of rage, the man picked a sharp object and attacked her repeatedly. Despite her attempts to escape, she collapsed inside the house and died on the spot.
Alarmed by the screams, neighbors rushed to the homestead only to find the woman lying in a pool of blood.
The suspect had already fled the scene. Police officers from Nyamache Police Station later arrived and moved the body to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
Confirming the incident, local authorities described the killing as heartbreaking and unnecessary. They urged couples to seek peaceful ways of solving family disputes instead of resorting to violence.
“This is a very unfortunate case. Domestic issues should be handled with dialogue, not murder,” one officer said.
The man is currently being pursued by police, and a manhunt has been launched. Residents have been asked to remain calm and provide any information that could help in his arrest.
The incident has sparked discussions in the community about rising cases of domestic violence in the region.
Leaders and church elders have called on families to seek counseling whenever problems arise, warning that acts of revenge and anger destroy lives and families.
The tragic killing has left children without a mother and the entire village in disbelief.
Many described the woman as hardworking and friendly, saying her death has robbed the community of a valuable member.
Police investigations are ongoing as the search for the suspect continues.
