“I Don’t Bother About Raila Anymore,” Asserts Gachagua as He Dismisses ODM’s Health Remarks

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has criticized the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for making public comments about Raila Odinga’s health, calling the statement an act of political mischief.

Gachagua said that ODM is using Raila’s health to gain political sympathy instead of focusing on real issues affecting Kenyans.

Speaking in Nyeri during a church service, Gachagua said he found it wrong for ODM leaders to use Raila’s health as a political tool.
He explained that matters of health are private and should not be turned into political debates.

“The ODM statement on Raila’s health is pure mischief. They want to attract attention and create unnecessary drama,” Gachagua said.

He added that since Raila Odinga chose to work closely with President William Ruto through the African Union role and national unity efforts, he has no personal issue with him.

“I don’t bother about Raila anymore. Once he joined President Ruto in supporting peace and development, I left the matter there,” Gachagua stated.

The former Deputy President said his main focus is on helping the President deliver promises to Kenyans, not engaging in political distractions.

He urged politicians to stop spreading fear or rumors for political gain, saying Kenyans are more interested in progress than endless quarrels.

According to Gachagua, ODM’s recent remarks about Raila’s health are part of a larger plan to keep his name in the news and paint the government negatively.

“We respect Raila as an elder and a former leader. But his health should not be used for political games,” he emphasized.

The former Deputy President also warned political parties against spreading misinformation that could cause confusion or public tension.

He said that the Kenya Kwanza government is focused on economic recovery, job creation, and supporting small businesses.

Gachagua’s comments come amid growing tension between ODM and the government, with both sides trading accusations over public statements.

However, he maintained that the government respects all leaders regardless of their political background.

“I wish Raila good health and long life,” Gachagua said, ending his speech. “But let ODM know that Kenya has moved forward. We are focused on work, not drama.”
