Heartbroken Shalkido's Family Responds To Claims Oga Obinna, Eric Omondi Were Involved In His Death

The family of the late Gengetone artist Shalkido, known from the popular music group Sailors Gang, has finally broken their silence following wild claims on social media linking comedians Oga Obinna and Eric Omondi to his tragic death.

According to reports we gathered from close family sources, Shalkido was involved in a hit-and-run accident along Thika Road on the morning of October 5, an incident that left him with severe head and leg injuries.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries a day later.

Soon after his death, online users began to spin theories suggesting that the two comedians may have been connected to the incident.

Some claimed Eric Omondi had fueled the very motorbike Shalkido was riding when the accident occurred, while others raised bizarre claims about “demonic” number plates.

The family has now come out to clear the air, saying that such talk is both hurtful and misleading.

In an official statement seen by our team, their spokesperson thanked both Oga Obinna and Eric Omondi for being there for the musician when he was struggling.

“We want to sincerely thank Eric and Obinna for their support to our son during his lowest moments. As a family, we do not blame anyone for Shalkido’s death. It was a tragic accident,” the statement read.

The family also urged Kenyans to stop spreading unverified information online and instead assist police with any credible evidence about what happened that night.

“If anyone knows what truly happened, please record a statement at Kasarani Police Station, where the case is being investigated,” they added.

Eric Omondi has so far remained silent on the matter, while Obinna briefly addressed the rumors online, saying people should stop using tragedy to chase clout.

Meanwhile, fellow artist Bahati also mourned Shalkido, sharing screenshots of their last chat in which the late singer had requested a music collaboration.

However, Bahati’s post sparked mixed reactions, with fans accusing him of seeking attention instead of offering genuine condolences.

As the family prepares for Shalkido’s burial, they have requested the public to respect their privacy and remember the artist for his talent, laughter, and contribution to Kenyan music, not for the rumors surrounding his death.
