"God Protect Him" Police Search Underway For Catholic Church Priest Who Went Missing Mysteriously at Seminar

Police in Tanzania have started a major search for Father Camillus Nikata, a Catholic priest and university lecturer who disappeared in unclear circumstances.

The news has caused deep concern among church members and the public.

According to sources close to the Church, Father Nikata, who also worked as a lecturer at St. Augustine University of Tanzania, was last seen attending a seminar for priests in Songea.

He had travelled from Dodoma with another lecturer for the meeting and was expected to return to Mwanza on October 8, 2025.

He reportedly bought his bus ticket online and told close friends about his travel plans. But hours after he was supposed to leave, his colleagues noticed he had not checked out.

His room was locked from the inside, and his luggage was still there. The key had not been returned to the priest’s residence manager.

Church leaders and fellow priests became worried when repeated calls to his phone went unanswered.

After confirming with the bus company that Father Nikata never boarded, they immediately informed the Archbishop of Songea, Damian Dallu, who later made a public statement about the priest’s disappearance.

Archbishop Dallu explained that the case had been officially reported to the police and that investigations were already underway.

He urged members of the public to share any information that might help find the missing priest.

“We ask everyone to pray and assist where possible so that Father Camillus can be found safely,” he said.

As the search continues, many faithful have turned to social media to offer prayers and messages of hope.

Some wrote emotional posts asking for divine protection, while others shared encouraging Bible verses, believing the priest will return unharmed.

This case has left many people shocked, especially because Father Nikata was known as a calm and hardworking man who devoted his life to teaching and service.

Friends described him as humble and dedicated to his duties both in the church and in the classroom.

Police have assured the public that they are following every possible lead.

Meanwhile, the Catholic community remains united in faith, hoping that Father Camillus Nikata will soon be found safe and reunited with his congregation.
