In a post shared online, Wambugu questioned why Gachagua asked Kenyans to gather at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to welcome him back from his US trip.
He compared this to Raila, who he said never openly calls for such receptions.
“Has Gachagua ever seen Raila ask people to ‘come and receive’ him at the airport? Raila uses quiet mobilization and surprise, not public announcements,” Wambugu remarked.
Gachagua’s trip was initially expected to last until this momth, but he cut it short to lead campaigns for upcoming by-elections in several constituencies.
He said his time in the United States allowed him to connect with Kenyans living abroad and to strengthen what he calls the “Wantam Movement,” a political drive he believes is gaining momentum across the country.
On his social media pages, Gachagua described the trip as “fulfilling” and happy he returned energized for the battles ahead.
But Wambugu insists that Gachagua’s reliance on public invitations for support shows political inexperience. He noted that seasoned politicians like Raila often surprise rivals with sudden shows of strength rather than announcing mobilization days in advance.
