Allies of President William Ruto from the Ukambani region have strongly hit back at former President Uhuru Kenyatta, following his sharp criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Uhuru, while addressing Jubilee Party delegates during their National Delegates Conference on Friday, accused the current government of dismantling programs that had benefited Kenyans during his rule.
The former President argued that initiatives such as Linda Mama had been abandoned and replaced with what he termed as “untested and untried experiments” that were making life more difficult for citizens.
He claimed the country’s progress was being dragged backward as people struggled to cope with the changes.
But Mwala Member of Parliament and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Organizing Secretary, Vincent Kawaya, dismissed Uhuru’s remarks as misplaced.
Speaking in Kitui town during a boda boda empowerment program, Kawaya accused the former President of running down the country’s economy and leaving behind a trail of hardship.
“Uhuru Kenyatta should retire honourably and stop lecturing those who are fixing the mess he left behind.
He crippled the economy, and now President Ruto is working day and night to rebuild it,” Kawaya said.
The lawmaker went further to criticize the Nairobi Expressway, which was one of Uhuru’s flagship projects.
He described it as exploitative, claiming it mainly benefits the former President’s allies while ordinary Kenyans shoulder heavy costs.
Kawaya insisted that Ruto’s government is not gambling with the country’s future but instead laying down long-term programs that will deliver tangible results.
He expressed confidence that the President’s efforts will guarantee him “an undisputed re-election” come 2027.Click here.
