Sifuna and Babu Owino Hints At Kenya Moja Leaders' Secret Plan to Block Ruto’s Re-election in 2027

A new political alliance is emerging in Kenya, with leaders aiming to unite opposition lawmakers to challenge President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027.

The Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino announced that over 70 legislators have shown interest in joining the Kenya Moja Alliance.

The alliance seeks to form a strong front to offer an alternative leadership for Kenyans.

Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi said the group plans to reach out to other influential figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Governor George Natembeya, and former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, to strengthen opposition unity.

“We have decided to walk together to save our nation from the hands of the Kenya Kwanza regime. To beat the current government, we must unite,” Kibagendi said.

The MPs criticized President Ruto for policies they claim have raised the cost of living, making life difficult for ordinary citizens.

Sifuna added that the alliance has faced pressure and threats from the administration but vowed to remain committed.

“Come what may, we will stay together. We are ready to risk our lives for the agenda we believe in. We will not be silent while wrong things happen in our country,” Sifuna said.

Sifuna also said Ruto’s recent statement labeling Parliament as a “corruption zone” was intended to intimidate opposition leaders.

“Those noises were aimed at us. Some claim we are not capable of leading this country. God gave them those positions, and He can also lift others into leadership,” he noted.

Babu Owino challenged the President to address corruption within his own administration before accusing others.

“If you want to deal with corruption, start with your house and those walking with you daily. Otherwise, we see corruption in you,” he said.

Other speakers at the service criticized government officials for failing to account for recent deaths during demonstrations.

The service also saw a moment of drama when Saboti MP Caleb Amisi’s Sh100,000 donation was declined by Pastor Manyuru to avoid perceptions of bribery.
