This follows internal dissension among Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party shortly after Ruto took presidency in 2022 General Elections.
A number of legal disputes over the Jubilee Party's governance began that year when a faction led by Kanin Kega and Sabina Chege staged an internal coup in an effort to remove Uhuru Kenyatta's supporters from the party's leadership.
However, the ruling reinstalled Uhuru Kenyatta as party leader and confirmed that Saitoti Torome would be the new National Chairman, while Jeremiah Kioni retains Secretary-General.
And according to Jamleck Kamau, a former ally of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, there is fear and anxiety within Ruto's camp.
“We painfully learned that money, threats, or state institutions cannot overcome the will of the people,” said Kamau, who has now joined DCP.
Kamau added that retired President Kenyatta has told his supporters he will not directly engage in the 2027 politics and that everyone is free to align with any faction.
This was confirmed by Nominated MP Sabina Chege, who said Jubilee has been left leaderless and is struggling to regroup.
Jeremiah Kioni’s faction leans toward Fred Matiang’i, while Jubilee Chairman Torome Saitoti sides with Gachagua.
Others such as Amos Mwago, Peter Mwathi, Jude Njomo, and Kabinga wa Thayu have joined DCP.
Whereas Ruto’s supporters, including Sabina Chege, Irene Njoki, and Kwenya Thuku, remain in UDA.
