DP Kindiki Warned, Told How Ruto Won't Forgive Him If He Commits This Blunder

Political temperature is rising in the country especially in Mount Kenya region, where Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is facing it hard to win over the region that voted overwhelmingly for Dr William Ruto in the last presidential elections.

Despite giving him over 87% of votes in 2022 elections, Mount Kenya seems to be drifting far from the self proclaimed hustler, after the impeachment of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, in October last year.

As Rigathi Gachagua and Kithure Kindiki clashes over the control of the vote rich region, Meru politician and activist Michael Makarina has issued a stern warning to Prof Kindiki that his goose is already cooked in the ongoing women empowerment programs.

The vocal politician noted that Prof Kindiki is in for a rude shock if he continues relying on money donations and empowerment initiatives to amass the support from Mount Kenya residents, warning that it will backfire badly and end up losing the second in command position seat to Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga.

Speaking on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Makarina warned that his close working relationship with president William Ruto won't save, and secure him unconditional support if he fails to capture Mount Kenya back to Kenya Kwanza coalition.

"Most likely, if Kindiki believes that his friend Ruto will save him when he fails to deliver, he will be surprised to see Gladys Wanga appointed Deputy President. Kindiki will be surprised. All this juggling of money and bags, claiming to be empowerment, he will be amazed." Makarina said.

Instead, he said in the case of failure, Prof Kithure Kindiki would be surprised to find Gladys Wanga fronted in daylight to take the President’s backing.

Mr Makarina emphasized that Prof Kindiki will be left in the cold if he fails to deliver Mount Kenya bloc he promised Dr Ruto.

Nevertheless, matter of dishing out money in empowerment programs, he advised the second in command to implement structured programmes instead of indiscriminate handouts.

"Kindiki should run programs. Now he's just giving out money for what? For going home? What kind of empowerment does that represent at home? There are artists at home, such as Karimi and Bruno, who can perform and explain why Ruto is president, but Kindiki, despite being a professor, has attained power and forgotten his position," he said.
