Big Win For Wetangula As 50 DAP-K Leaders Join Ford-K, Sends Message To Natembeya Over TAWE Movement

The Ford Kenya party branch in Trans-Nzoia has received over 50 members who defected from DAP-K.

These members, led by Mr. Boaz Werunga, who contested for the Tuwani ward council seat on a DAP-K ticket in the 2022 election but lost to Francis Were of ODM, said they decided to return after realizing that the DAP-K party has no direction whatsoever.

Mr. Werunga said on Tuesday evening that his return to Ford Kenya was his own decision, along with his supporters.

He stated that no one pressured him to join Ford Kenya but he saw that Ford Kenya, under the leadership of National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula, is the party that suits him.

"Neither I nor my colleagues were forced to join Ford Kenya, but we saw it better to come to a house that has a plan and stands firm rather than being in a place with no direction and stance," said Mr. Werunga.

They were officially welcomed into the party by the Ford Kenya national deputy leader and Kwanza MP, Ferdinand Kevin Wanyonyi. Mr. Wanyonyi urged all those who joined Ford Kenya to aim to improve the party.

Regarding the Finance Bill 2024, the MP said that lawmakers would have a good opportunity to scrutinize it when the National Assembly resumes its sessions next Tuesday.

Mr. Wanyonyi dismissed claims made by some opponents that MPs from the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition would pass the bill as it is.

Speaking about Tawe Movement advocated by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, the MP urged him to consider joining Ford Kenya and halt the process of registering Tawe as a party, claiming that the Tawe Movement might create discord within the Mulembe community.

At the meeting, the MP was accompanied by grassroots leaders, with all five sub-branches of Trans-Nzoia County represented, including Ford Kenya's national deputy chairperson and nominated MCA, Ms. Margaret Wanjala.
