Wetangula Shows Off His Beautiful Home As He Hosts A Delegation Of Bukusu Elders

Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, on Friday, April 3, offered the public a glimpse of his posh Bungoma residence as he hosted a delegation of Bukusu elders from Western,Trans Nzoia counties.

The meeting focused on addressing key community issues and ways to strengthen the role of elders in society.

Elders in Kenya are widely recognized for their influence, often acting as intermediaries between communities and the government while providing trusted counsel to national leaders.

However, Wetangula noted that the lack of unity among Bukusu elders has weakened their influence, respect, and overall effectiveness.

During the meeting, the Speaker pledged his support, including providing an office to improve coordination and enhance the elders’ capacity to serve their communities.

He encouraged the elders to stand firmly in defense of senior Luhya leaders against political attacks, urging them to emulate the solidarity demonstrated by Luo elders in support of leaders such as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Wetangula also emphasized the importance of guiding the youth to uphold respectful conduct and societal values.

He called on the elders to actively support President William Ruto’s bid for a second term, highlighting key development projects and appointments under his administration that have benefited the community.

The meeting was described as productive, with elders expressing appreciation for the Speaker’s engagement and commitment to enhancing their role in society.

Some noted that such interactions help reinforce the political, social relevance of elders while encouraging cohesion & strategic guidance in their communities.

Through this engagement, Wetangula reaffirmed his commitment to empowering elders, strengthening community leadership, and promoting unity among the Bukusu and broader Luhya communities.
