City lawyer Wahome Thuku has shared his views on the future political moves of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In his remarks, Thuku claimed that Gachagua is unlikely to run for the presidency. Instead, he suggested that the he may take a different political path, especially if President William Ruto secures re-election.
According to Thuku, if Ruto wins in August 2027, Gachagua could be among the first leaders to congratulate him even before the final results are fully announced.
He alleged that Gachagua may move quickly to accept the outcome and avoid any form of political dispute or petition.
Thuku further claimed that Gachagua is not interested in sustaining a direct political confrontation with Ruto. Rather, he suggested that the former deputy President could be focusing on building regional political influence.
He went on to compare Gachagua’s alleged strategy to that of Raila Odinga, claiming that he may aim to consolidate support from the Mt. Kenya region and use it as a strong bargaining tool in national politics.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans. While some see Thuku’s analysis as realistic, others believe it is too early to predict Gachagua’s political ambitions.
As the 2027 elections slowly come into focus, political alignments and strategies are already becoming a major topic of discussion across the country.
