"He Had the T-Shirt, the Cap and the Money" Then He Shouted Gachagua at an ODM Rally

An ODM supporter sent shockwaves through a party rally in Malindi when he grabbed the microphone and declared he would vote for Rigathi Gachagua not William Ruto directly in front of CS Ali Hassan Joho.

The incident happened at the ODM Youth Convention Coast Region on April 26 when a leader asked the crowd whether they preferred re-electing Ruto or his former deputy Gachagua.

The supporter did not hesitate. He took the microphone and shouted one word.

Joho looked on in visible disbelief as the crowd scrambled to correct the man.

The video spread immediately across social media, drawing laughter and pointed political commentary from every direction.

DCP deputy leader Cleophas Malalah wasted no time, stating that ODM went to protect the ground before listening to it a direct dig at a party that assumed loyalty it had not verified.

Opposition aspirant Pauline Njoroge went further, noting the supporter had already received mobilisation money, a branded T-shirt, and a cap before standing up and endorsing the wrong candidate.

Gladys Wanga moved to reaffirm ODM's stability, but the video was already travelling faster than any statement could contain it.

The incident lands as ODM fights through the fallout of Raila's departure to the African Union, the removal of Edwin Sifuna as secretary general, and the growing Linda Mwananchi Movement pulling members toward the exit.
