The group, aligned to former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, expressed concern that many grassroots supporters learned of Matiang’i’s supposed endorsement through informal channels rather than official party communication.

Addressing local leaders during a consultative forum, the aspirants said the development had left confusion among those preparing to contest various seats under the Jubilee banner.
They maintained that while Matiang’i’s record in public service is widely known, the issue at hand is not personality but procedure.
According to the leaders, Jubilee must demonstrate internal accountability if it hopes to rebuild trust after its performance in the 2022 General Election.

With political alignments slowly forming ahead of 2027, Jubilee faces mounting pressure to speak with one voice. Whether the leadership offers reassurance or opens the field to competition could shape the party’s stability in the months ahead.
