According to reports, the deceased, identified as Brenda Akinyi, passed away on January 30, 2026, after falling ill at school.
Her body was taken to the mortuary, and an autopsy revealed that she died from cerebral malaria, a severe form of malaria that affects the brain.
The school has been closed indefinitely following protests by parents and residents, who are demanding answers and accountability over Brenda's death, noting that this was not the first case.
Another student died in the same school under similar circumstances.
