Kitiki Sam: Ailing Barber Makes Emotional Appeal On Birthday Amid Cancer Battle

Renowned Kenyan barber Samuel Kilonzi, popularly known as Kitiki Sam, has shared an emotional account of his ongoing battle with cancer, using his birthday as a platform to appeal for public support.

The young barber revealed that the illness has not only drained his physical strength but also affected his peace of mind, social life, and relationships.

In a heartfelt TikTok post published on December 31, 2025, Kitiki Sam reflected on the impact of his illness. What should have been a day of celebration instead became a somber moment of reflection.

“As I prepare to mark my birthday tomorrow, December 31, my heart is heavy yet still hopeful. Birthdays are meant to be moments of joy and celebration, but GIST cancer has changed everything. This disease has slowly eaten away at my strength, my peace, and the life I once knew,” he wrote.

Kitiki Sam explained that the illness has made everyday life a struggle, turning simple tasks into exhausting efforts.

He shared that the most challenging part of his journey has been the loneliness resulting from the withdrawal of friends, leaving him to face the illness largely on his own.

“Instead of candles and wishes, I face pain, loneliness, and an exhausting fight just to survive,” he lamented.

Understanding the high cost of cancer treatment, Kitiki Sam used the occasion of his birthday to ask for financial assistance.

He urged fans and well-wishers to contribute towards his medical expenses, which he said have become increasingly difficult to manage independently.

“If I could wish for one gift this birthday, it would not be clothes, cake, or celebrations — it would be your support in my fight against GIST cancer. Treatment is very expensive, and I cannot do this alone anymore. Standing with me, even in the smallest way, would mean more than words can express,” he appealed.

He provided his M-Pesa number (0724590868) for those willing to assist, emphasizing that even minor contributions would provide hope and the means to continue treatment.

The emotional post drew widespread attention, with fans responding with messages of encouragement and pledges to support him financially. Social media users expressed solidarity and admiration for Kitiki Sam’s resilience.

Queen Carl Shiks wrote, “Happy birthday in advance, my brother...guys, please let’s stand with him; any amount will help. It shall be well.” Maggie Meg added, “I have sent something to support you.

Happy birthday and may heaven remember you and heal you.” Emilia encouraged him, saying,

“Healing is your potion. Sickness is a beast that eats you away slowly and painfully. No one ever really understands you, but tutasimama na wewe. Don’t give up hope!”

Despite the support, Kitiki Sam acknowledged that the emotional burden of the disease has been heavier than the physical pain.

He reminded himself and others that his value and fight are not defined by who stays or who walks away.

“Even in this abandonment, I remind myself that my worth is not defined by who stays or who walks away. I am still a fighter,” he said.
