Chama Cha Kazi Party Leader, Moses Kuria, has dismissed claims that he is the reason behind the united opposition's loss in Mbeere North.
This is after DP candidate, Newton Kariuki, lost to UDA's Leo Wamuthende with a few hundred votes, with the CCK candidate, Duncan Mbui, emerging third.
Kuria has come out to deny claims that he enabled Wamuthende's win by his candidate dividing the vote that would have gone to Kariuki.
He has recalled not being in any agreement with the united opposition about supporting Kariuki, which gave his party every right to have a candidate.
"We picked Hon Duncan Mbui after he was dropped by DCP. Why did they drop him? UDA united all aspirants that lost to Wamuthende in the nominations. Why didn't the opposition do the same?" he says on X.
He has also pointed out that there were 5 other candidates other than the 3 who are being mentioned, wondering why his candidate is the one being picked on.
The former Gatundu South MP has also expressed his belief that the united opposition is simply weak and lacks the popularity it claims to have.
He has wondered how else he was able to singlehandedly engineer it's defeat, despite top opposition leaders, led by DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua and former Attorney General, Justin Muturi, camping in Mbeere North to drum up support for Kariuki.
According to Kuria, it is because of the opposition's fake popularity in Mt Kenya that it was defeated by UDA, which it has been painting as weak and failing in the area.
