"Things Will Boil Nicely” David Kiplagat Hints at Possible ODM–UDA Coalition Ahead of 2027

Uasin Gishu Speaker David Kiplagat has hinted at the possibility of a political coalition between President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a public event, Kiplagat suggested that the two major political parties could join forces in a coalition agreement that would see President Ruto contest for re-election under the united front.

He said the partnership would reshape Kenya’s political landscape and ensure stability as the country heads into another election season.

Kiplagat expressed confidence that the political environment was slowly changing, and alliances that once seemed impossible could soon become a reality.

“There will be a coalition between ODM and UDA, and President Ruto will contest under that coalition agreement. Things will boil nicely,” he remarked, drawing applause from the audience.

His remarks have stirred discussions across the political divide, with some seeing it as a sign of growing unity, while others view it as an early campaign strategy.

Political analysts believe that if such a coalition happens, it could drastically shift the country’s political power balance and possibly end years of rivalry between Ruto and Raila.

Kiplagat further noted that Kenya’s politics had entered a new phase where dialogue and cooperation would be more important than confrontation.

He urged leaders from all sides to put national interests above personal ambitions and to work together for peace and development.

“Politics is about interests, not enmity,” he said.

“If leaders can find common ground to move the country forward, then Kenyans will benefit.”
